Fencing & Gates in Luton & Bedfordshire

Fences fail at the posts, every single time. Get those right and the rest lasts.

After every decent storm the calls come in, and it's nearly always the same story: panels blown out because the posts were knocked into soft ground or set in a shallow bit of postcrete. We dig proper holes, set posts in concrete to the right depth for the fence height, and let them go off before hanging anything on them.

Closeboard is the strong option — feather-edge boards nailed to arris rails, built on site, and repairable board by board if something gets damaged. Panel fencing is quicker and cheaper and perfectly good on a sheltered boundary. We'll tell you which suits your garden and your exposure rather than pushing the dearer one.

Gates get the same treatment: properly braced, hung on gate posts sized for the weight, with furniture that will still work in five years. And if a storm has taken out a run and you need it back up quickly because of a dog or a child, say so when you call — we prioritise those.

About fencing and gates

How do I know which side of the fence is mine?

Your deeds or title plan usually mark it with a T. If it's genuinely unclear, the practical answer is to talk to the neighbour before work starts — we can quote either way and we'd rather not be in the middle of a boundary dispute.

Concrete or timber posts?

Concrete posts outlast timber and won't rot at ground level, which is where timber always goes. Timber looks better. We fit both — with a gravel board at the bottom either way, so the panel isn't sitting in the soil.

Can you match my existing fence?

Usually yes. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what it is and whether we can get a match.
